Staff and students at Beech Lodge School are backing Building for the Future this term in a unique way – by raising funds through their Apprenticeshop.
The stunning new-style charity shop sells upcycled furniture, homewares and specially selected retro items and antiques - all at affordable prices.
Run by young people from Beech Lodge plus four other local specialist schools in Maidenhead, Apprenticeshop gives students gain real-time work experience in the retail sector.
Dealing with stock, customers and working on store and product maintenance boosts the students’ confidence and communication skills as well as teaching hands-on practical trades.
At the same time, Apprenticeshop gives back to the community by promoting sustainability (with upcycled furniture, antiques and crafts handmade by small enterprises) and donating shop proceeds to a different charity each term.
Beech Lodge School’s Principal and co-Founder Lucy Barnes chose Building for the Future to benefit from this term's fundraising for the support it offers disabled young people.
“The Apprenticeshop is delighted to be able to support Building for the Future this term.
“This incredible charity provides life changing opportunities for vulnerable young people.
“We are really pleased to be able to support them in this way.
"The shop is going from strength to strength and has so many benefits for so many.”
